It may useful to first read the eMail List Server primer below to understand what a listserver does, and how this list server works.

About this group:

This list is intended for organisers and members of AshBUG, for the purpose of organising, and informing users to extracurricular special events, and social outings.

This group is not intended for general discussion of regular Ashbug rides- the Ashbug website and PushOn will cover the distribution of those rides, though discussion of regular rides is still allowed.

How to use the group.

To send a message to all participants, send to the email address: ashbug_social_list@ashbug.org.au

To maintain your account

Joining the group.

Go to <http://ashbug.org.au/mailman/listinfo/ashbug_social_list_ashbug.org.au> with your browser, enter your email address and full name. Select a password to use for the purposes of maintaining your account. Click the [Subscribe] button.

When you receive the confirmation email, either repy to that message (only the subject must be maintained, the message body is not critical), or visit the web page stated.

Once you have been confirmed (either by email or online) you will be given a number of links via email - how to send messages, how to change your settings etc.

Once you have joined the group, you may post a message, or, wait for others to send their messages.

Rules:

Do not send a message to Ashbug_Social_List email address as well as other email addresses in the same message. This list server email must be the only destination address. If you have to send one message to several groups or people, ensure you create a separate message for this group.

Unsolicited advertising will not allowed.

Offenders will be barred from the group.

What is a listserver?

An eMail list server is a "machine" that contains a list of email addresses (members). Each list server in question has a unique email address that's used to communicate with others.

When you send an email message to the list server email address, that message is automatically duplicated to all the members. This way, the list server behaves somewhat like a group discussion board.

How to use the listserver.

In general terms, there is only one email address that is used to send messages. Be sure that any replies you make, are sent to this address only.
